Younger Murray Lawler

Younger MURRAY was born on 27 October 1858 at Sunderland Hall Lodge in the Selkirk Parish of Selkirkshire, Scotland.  She was the daughter of Margaret Younger MURRAY.

On 28 February 1878, Younger MURRAY married James LAWLER at Sunderland Hall Lodge.  James was born about 14 March 1850 in the Cromdale area of Morayshire and was a son of John LAWLER and his wife Georgina SMITH.

James LAWLER worked as a Carpenter and Younger worked as a Dressmaker.  The couple lived for a while on Caledonian Crescent in Edinburgh.  When James traveled to North America in the very late 1870's, Younger and their two children returned to Sunderland Hall Lodge.  Younger and her young children joined James in North America in the early 1880's.  The family lived at various places in the United States, including Great Falls, Montana until 1897 when they moved to British Columbia, Canada.  The family lived near Rossland and James found work as a miner.

James LAWLER died on 15 August 1918 in Vancouver.  Younger Murray LAWLER died on 01 October 1944 in Vancouver.  They are both buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

Children of James LAWLER and Younger MURRAY:

i.  John LAWLER, who was born on 28 December 1878 at 38 Caledonian Crescent in Edinburgh.  John married Emma Dorothy SCHMIDT on 17 September 1902 in Rossland, British Columbia.  Sometime after 1928, John married Nellie Ella WARNES.  Nellie was born on 15 August 1891 in Ontario and was a daughter of James WARNES and Betsy JENKINSON.  John LAWLER worked in the Fruit Packing industry for 27 years and retired in 1944 after reaching the position of Manager.  Nellie Ella Warnes LAWLER died on 16 January 1943 at Beech Orchard, near Summerland, British Columbia.  John LAWLER died on 18 June 1967 at his residence on Victoria Road South, Summerland, BC.

ii.  Maggie LAWLER, who was also born on 28 December 1878 at 38 Caledonian Crescent.

iii.  Walter James LAWLER, who was born on 07 May 1880 in Sunderland Hall Lodge, Selkirkshire. 

iv.  Joseph Walter LAWLER, who was born on 30 September 1886 in the United States.  Joseph was a Telegraph Operator and lived at 3495 West 14th in Vancouver with his with Sadie.  Joseph Walter LAWLER died there on 26 January 1938.  Joseph is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

v.  Margaret Elizabeth LAWLER, who was born on 11 May 1889 in the United States.  Margaret married Norman Leacock YEARWOOD on 16 1920 in Vancouver.  Norman was born about 1891 and died on 20 May 1932 in Victoria, British Columbia.  Margaret Elizabeth Lawler YEARWOOD died on 08 September 1982.  Norman and Margaret are buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

vi.  Georgia Maud LAWLER, who was born on 17 July 1891 in Great Falls, Montana.  Georgia was never married and she died on 28 August 1966 at her home at 2205 Balaclava Street in Vancouver.  She is buried with her parents in the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.

vii.  Douglas J. LAWLER, who was born on 13 November 1893 in Great Falls, Montana.  On 28 April 1920, Douglas married Vera May GEDDIS, who was born on 15 October 1895.  Douglas worked for many years as the Managing Director for ALLCOCK, DOWNING, & WRIGHT, a wholesale plumbing and steam fitting supply company.  Douglas LAWLER died at his long time home at 1836 West 12th Avenue in Vancouver on 15 January 1954  Douglas is buried in the Ocean View Cemetery in Burnaby, BC.  Vera Geddis LAWLER died on 02 December 1976 in Vancouver.
