Hamilton Flemyng Campbell Gyll-Murray
Hamilton Flemyng Campbell GYLL-MURRAY was born on 11 August 1836 and baptized on 07 September 1836 in the Saint Marylebone Parish, in London. He was a son of Hamilton GYLL and Frances Caroline MURRAY.
Hamilton GYLL grew up at Shenley Lodge in Hertfordshire and was only eight (8) when his father died. Hamilton's mother remarried three (3) years later (1847) and by 1851, Hamilton was living with his mother's Aunt, Caroline THOMPSON on Royal Avenue Terrace in the Chelsea District of London.
On 04 January 1861, Hamilton GYLL married Louisa Ida JESSE in Southampton. Hamilton was living at the Pier Hotel in Southampton at this time. Louisa, who was born about 1843 in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, was a daughter of William Henry JESSE, a Tailor, and his wife Katherine LOCKE.
In 1871, Hamilton and Louisa GYLL and family were living in Albert Villas on Granada Road in Portsmouth. Hamilton was employed there as a Manager of a local club.
Late in 1878, after the death of his cousin Murray Howell MURRAY, Hamilton GYLL assumed the MURRAY surname and applied for the Baronetcy of Stanhope. It is not known if Hamilton's claim was ever established but it is known that Hamilton listed his occupation as a Scottish Baronet in the 1881 Census. At that time Hamilton and Louisa GYLL-MURRAY and family were living at High Park on Preston Road in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
In 1891, Hamilton and family were living back on the mainland at 43 Granada Road in the Southsea District of Porstmouth, Hampshire.
By 1901, Hamilton GYLL-MURRAY and family had moved several miles East and were living at 27 Stanford Road, in Brighton, Sussex. At this time Hamilton GYLL-MURRAY was listed as being paralysed. Hamilton GYLL-MURRAY died on 8 February 1902 at Havelock House in Portslade-By-Sea in the Steyning District of Sussex County. Louisa Ida Jesse GYLL-MURRAY died on 21 March 1928 at 80 Walsingham Road, Hove in the Steyning District of East Sussex.

i. Ada Gertrude GYLL-MURRAY, who was born on 12 February 1861 at 4 Anglesea Street in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
ii. Alice Fanny GYLL-MURRAY, who was born on 24 January 1864 at 55 Rose Hill Terrace in the St. Peter District of Brighton, Sussex.
iii. Beatrice Ida Adelaide GYLL-MURRAY, who was born on 21 October 1865 at 2 Kingston Terrace in Kingston-By-Sea in the Shoreham District, Sussex County.
iv. Edythe Grace GYLL-MURRAY, who was born about 1869 in Hythe, Hampshire. Edythe married Lieutenant Harward Patrick Curtis O'FARRELL on 2 January 1889 in the Portsea District of Hampshire.
v. John Murray GYLL-MURRAY, who was born on 20 February 1869 on Bakers Farm near Dibden, in the Fawley District of Southampton County.
vi. Annie GYLL-MURRAY, who was born about 1871 in Southsea, Hampshire.
vii. Bueth Meux Bampfylde Hamilton GYLL-MURRAY, who was born on 14 May 1878 on Bramlands Lane in Woodmancote in the Steyning District of Sussex.
viii. Marion Catherine Flemyng GYLL-MURRAY, who was born on 18 February 1884 at Sussex House on Sussex Road in Southsea, Southampton.
