Alexander Murray of Earlsorchard

Alexander MURRAY was born about 1501 and was a son of William MURRAY of Schillinglaw.

In 1527, Alexander MURRAY bought the lands of Earlsorchard (Erliesorchert) from his brother William MURRAY.

Alexander MURRAY had a relationship with a Janet TWEEDIE and was married to Agnes LIDDELL and then Margaret NISBET.

i.  Robert MURRAY, whose mother was Janet TWEEDIE.  Robert had a son named Alexander MURRAY.

ii.  Marion MURRAY, whose mother was Agnes LIDDELL.

iii  Christian MURRAY.

iv  Bessie MURRAY, who mother was Agnes LIDDELL.  Bessie had a daughter named Margaret WATSON.

v.  Alexander MURRAY, who settled in Biggar and died in 1578.

vi.  Jonet MURRAY

In 1550, Alexander MURRAY of Earlsorchard had a sasine of half of the lands of Alyburn (Elibank) granted to him by Janet LIDDALE, Lady of Halkerston.  This property was confirmed to Alexander MURRAY of Earlsorchard and his wife Margaret NISBET in 1554 and again in a charter of confirmation in 1566.
